A Dedicated Sanctuary for Voice and Dialogue.
Most modern podcast recordings struggle against street rumble, HVAC hum, and harsh parallel-wall reflections. stymklax was intentionally engineered from ground up to solve room acoustic flaws before sound ever reaches the microphone capsule.
Room Construction & Isolation
Situated in Toronto’s historic King West district, our studio space utilizes a decoupled floating floor system and independent double-stud drywall construction. This architectural design attenuates exterior transit vibrations from streetcars and pedestrian thoroughfares to achieve an ultra-low NC-20 room noise rating.
Acoustic Treatment Methodology
Rather than using cheap non-rated foam that absorbs only high frequencies and leaves conversations boomy, our tracking room features broad-bandwidth bass traps down to 45 Hz and customized hardwood quadratic diffusers. The result is an intimate, warm room response without dry, sterile vocal fatigue.
Technical Gear Stack
- Microphones: Industry-reference Shure SM7B dynamic capsules, Neumann TLM 103 condensers, and Sennheiser MKH 416 shotgun units.
- Preamplifiers & DSP: Discrete Class-A clean gain gain stages with ultra-low noise floor ratings (-130 dBu EIN).
- Video Infrastructure: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K cameras with Sigma Art prime lenses and dedicated continuous temperature-balanced soft boxes.
- HVAC Silence: Custom baffled acoustic air silencer boxes providing fresh airflow with zero audible rumble.
Engineer-First Operations
We believe technology should remain invisible during an interview. Our studio engineer is present throughout your reservation to oversee microphone technique, prevent clipping, and manage file redundancy so creators can stay immersed in their discussion.
